Let's go back in time with Elliot James Reay's " All this to say i love you" EP
Elliot James Reay, known for his timeless and romantic 50s influenced music released his awaited EP All This To Say I Love You this week. This EP is just so sweet to listen to after learning the artist has a significant other who is usually in the studio with him. The overall melodies and sounds of his music makes you smile and think of dancing and creating memories with that special someone! The EP consists of songs title "I Think They Call This Love", "Boy In Love", "Daydreaming","Who Knew Dancing Was A Sin", "Sweetness", and "I Can't Stay Away". Don't ask me how many times I've listened to "Sweetness" !! Every song has it's own charm though and I loved that about this release.
I got the opportunity to ask Elliot a question during his press conference with my favs °1824.
Me: What aspects of 1950s music do you find most inspiring for your own creative process?
Elliot: The thing that I love the most is the melodies! I listen to a lot of songs and I realize when I watch people today writing songs the go to thing for most people is " I'll pick out some chords then hum a melody to this chord and put all the words together". I feel like it wasn't that way back then and I can just hear it in the melody. Sometimes they do things that a pop song today would be like that would be weird..like who thought of that. I think I've been reflecting on a lot of Bryan Wilson stuff and he brought back/ resurface but the way that he wrote things .. everything was melody first and that's what I think makes his songs stand out and a lot of artist from that era wrote that way. That to me is something I am trying to put into my music. I don't think about chords until I put a melody down then I figure out the chords and that might be helps a little bit more with my songs.

Thank you Elliot for your time and Congratulations on the new EP!
