Rob49 talks what to expect on album 'let me fly' and expressing freedom

 

New Orlean's Rob49 released full-length album 'Let me fly' this Friday. The album is highly anticipated. After the viral song "WTHELLY" has taken over the vocabulary of nearly every age group. It continues to spread all over with trends via TikTok , Instagram , X, and more. 

I got the amazing opportunity to join Rob49's press conference hosted by  °1824 and get more details on the album. As well as ask the artist two questions.

Rob49 spoke about how he wanted fans (new and old) to just enjoy the album and not think about it too much! He also mentioned how he took his time on the project therefore no song could be chosen as his favorite. Which stood out to me because it was nice to hear an artist appreciate their art to the fullest. This made me more excited to check out the album myself.

Q&A

Me: With "Let Me Fly" as the album title, it feels like you're embracing freedom. What's the biggest barrier you’ve overcome while making this album, and how does it relate to the success of your viral song ?

Rob49: I think everyday when you doing music, you push through barriers. It's like wthelly is wthelly and now what?.. it's that fast. It's like now what, It's time for the next one. I think everyday with music you gotta push through a barrier. It's not like doing nothing else as far as career wise. So, it's kinda like everyday is a new barrier because you ain't got another one now. Do it again ..do it again. You know what I'm saying?

Me: What are the key sounds or influences that make this project feel different from your previous work?

Rob49: I think on this album I did a couple melodic songs that I haven't done before.

Onto the album. It consist of 22 songs which three of them are bonus songs. This album includes features from known artist like Cardi B, Lil Wayne, G herbo,Sexxy Red, and a few more. 'Let me fly' has a song for everyone to enjoy from now to the summer, whenever. Some of the songs like "Where I'm from" and "Hear me momma" are the songs he were speaking up during the Q&A. Which I enjoyed the balance of fun to serious songs while listening to 'Let me fly'. The order of the songs fit together to create that nice balance. So, I definitely enjoyed the album.
