While on tour, I got the opportunity to speak with Finn and Fred of Giant Rooks and got to know them better.

Me: While being on tour, what is something you always have to do before going on stage?

Finn Schwieters: We do a lot of vocal warm-ups together. You just have to be careful with your body and voice. We try to be more healthy. To be in the right mood for a performance, have a day before the show where you go out to a social event. Maybe go out and explore the city. It is really important for me to have a free mind and full energy for the show!

Fred Rabe: Without hanging out too much in backstage rooms is kind of important. We did that on our last tours and we were always like, this is... Don't get any sunlight. Yeah, we felt a bit depressed and devastated about that. Not having sunlight or not having an actual life beside the show. So, yeah, I think that is a really good thing that we are now strolling around the cities and exploring places, which is so obvious. We could have done it earlier. But no, it's actually very nice. Good one.

Me: What is a long term goal you have as a band?

Finn Schwieters: So back in the days like when we got asked that question it was always like oh I would love to play at that or that festival or play a tour here or there I don't know. I think it'd be changed in a way again maybe it sounds a little cliche but the most important thing is that the five of us are happy with what we are doing. That we are able to still write music that we like, be on tour, and have a great time, actually. So, if we can keep that, then I think that is the biggest goal in my aim for the future. I think it shouldn’t really be about achieving this or that, it will come naturally then.

Fred Rabe: You can't plan anything, like all the kind of success with music or having on social media and TikTok and streaming and all the kind of stuff is you can just try to find or you just try to find them. You come up with good songs and good stuff that is actually resonating with people and everything else, you have no control about that. So, I feel like you can be kind of chill about it all but of course the things you can change you should change well..you should work on.

Both: Thank you , Thanks for the questions!

Special thanks to Giant Rooks, Mercury/Republic Records, °1824, and everyone who made this possible for their time and invitation to the press conference! More on WHOSEMLEODY coming soon.
